Brenda Marie Osbey is an author of poetry and prose non-fiction in English and French. Her books include All Saints: New and Selected Poems (1997), which received the 1998 American Book Award; Desperate Circumstance, Dangerous Woman (1991); In These Houses (1988); and Ceremony for Minneconjoux (1983; 1985). Her most recent volume of poetry is History & Other Poems (2013). Her poems have appeared in numerous journals, anthologies, and collections including Callaloo, Obsidian, Essence, Renaissance Noire, and Southern Review. A native New Orleanian, Osbey served as the first peer-selected Poet Laureate of the State of Louisiana, 2005—2007. (at Kelly Writers House)
